Does cover image change to default after update?

The default cover image is of Anspress. I wanted to know how to change it for all profiles and if there is an update of Anspress, will the cover image be changed to default?

Hi Vansh!

Not sure about 3.0 since I didn’t install the update yet but until now the instructions provided by Rahul HERE applied. Note that if you follow those steps, you can update Anspress without losing the default cover picture you chose… BUT you will loose them when you update your theme because the “anspress > images” folders can’t be created in a child theme.

So I prefer uploading my own images directly in …/wp-content/plugins/anspress-question-answer/theme/default/images and replace the default ones. That means loosing them when I update Anspress but it makes more sense than loosing them when updating my theme. ^^;

At a point, Rahul talked about a future backend setting dedicated to upload a new cover image. If it has been added to 3.0, then you can just skip my answer. ?

Hope this helps.

Thanks for detailed answer. Setting default cover image is skipped to next version.

Thanks for the answer Fred.
1. If I add my own cover photo, will there be effect on those people’s cover photos who have already set them?
2. Can i do this-
No cover photo. I mean when people create account there is no cover image and then they can set their own.

Thanks

You’re welcome!
1. The procedure I quoted is for Anspress default cover photo, so it shouldn’t change anything for users who already set a new one. 😉
2. I have no idea but, after making a backup, I guess you can try to delete the default cover photo in …/wp-content/plugins/anspress-question-answer/theme/default/images and see how it looks on your site. If layout is broken or it doesn’t look good, there is a possible workaround: create default cover photos that are the same color as your website’s background color. It will feel like there is no cover photo to users. 😉 (You can also create a transparent png file but I’m not sure Anspress will accept it as a default photo.)
