Is there any possible conflict between AnsPress and Buddypress profiles ?

Hi Rahul!

Great plugin you have here! I really love the overall feeling and the attention to details! The profiles are great too but I’m already using Buddypress on my live site. Before going any further, I would like to know how WP/BuddyPress profiles and AnsPress profiles interact with each other: are they somehow related? Is there anyway to merge them? Or is this planned for a future release?

I actually like the profiles so much that I’m considering using them as my main profiles.

Thanks again!

Fred

Hi Fred,
I have not planned for adding compatibility of BuddyPress. But this will depend on users request. I will think for 3rd party after AnsPress major features get ready 🙂
Thanks

Hi Rahul,
Thank you for your answer. Sure it makes sense. 😉
My main concern now is being able to include a range of questions (based on category, tag or a combination of both) to some Custom Post Types as a replacement to comments. I saw that someone else asked for the same feature and that it might be implemented in the future. A shortcode would be great I guess. 😀
On its own page, AnsPress is already great: if you can mix it with some other content, it would be perfect!
Big thanks for the wonderful work so far. As soon as I have decided wether or not to use it on my live site, I will work on a French translation if you need one.

Count me in for at least the French translation. 😉

Building BP integration is overkill. You’ve already got good user profiles here. If BP integration is desired, it is probably best done via an add-on instead of in the core of the plugin.

@Peter I am totally agree with you 🙂

@Peter Well, I never thought it would be easy. But the integration with established systems opens the door to the future. WP and BP share the same core – WP user is easily transferable into a BP user. Just think about it what a BP integration would mean for the possible use-cases for this great piece of software. And nobody said, you have to keep it free – I would gladly pay for such a powerful tool.

Okey, I have added buddypress integration to my roadmap. But I will later decide whether this will be added as addon or core. I am not a big fan of buddypress but I think this will be useful for buddypress fan 🙂

@Rahul @Peter If I can get rid of Buddypress, I don’t mind ! That’s actually why I was asking the question in the first place. I already have Buddypress installed on my live site and I think that the two systems will have to cohabit for a while : that’s why I was asking if there was no compatibility issue. I already said that I loved Anspress profiles, so yes, why not get rid of Buddypress. 😀

@Fred of course 🙂 So I am not willing to add buddypress integration in core.

Awesome plugin – and it would be even more amazing with a BuddyPress intergration. Please consider it. “In exchange” I could provide german translation for you, if needed 🙂

hi, Martin Waiss, OKey I will add the integration after major features are ready.

Hi Rahul, awesome – thank you very much 🙂 Greetings from Vienna!
