Hi Rahul,

is it possible to automaticly add the rel=”nofollow” attribute to each link in questions, answers and comments?

This could prevent a lot of seo spam.

Kind regards,
Manuel

Following on the conversation here : I need, and want this included in Anspress Core as well. Absolutely mandatory for SEO purposes (and btw as a SEO expert, I can tell you that bots follow nofollow links, BUT they won’t penalize you if you link to dodgy websites (-> or if spammers do, on your website) as long as you protect yourself by nofollowing them.

Thank you !

Just forget all those SEO myths. They are urban legends. Basic seo and just work adding content to your WP/Anspress. Nothing else.

Follow/dofollow are the rest is very last-year stuff.

Maybe you didn’t understand, or didn’t read what I posted, so I’m gonna repeat it : I’m a SEO EXPERT. I sell SEO consulting for companies. I kinda know a myth from a non-myth then, thank you very much. So no, nofollow links are not important for PageRank Sculpting, which is a very obsolete idea for instance, but there are other reasons that still stand. I don’t want to post a long explanation about why no-follow attributes are important, because well there’s the Internet for that. If you wanna improve your general knowledge and open your mind instead of saying to everyone “I don’t believe in these legends”, just read on Google, from trustable sources, or better, if you have time, do the tests by yourself (which I do). And you will see that there is just one thing : facts. Good luck then 😉

SEO Experts are also a myth imho. Just a marketing thing.

In any case you can use this to try to solve your problem:

https://wordpress.org/plugins/sem-external-links/

I wish people (in general) spend their time and efforts to add valuable CONTENT to their WordPress/Anspress sites and stop worrying about all that “seo”. CONTENT will make their site stand out of the rest and not follow/nofollow/dofollow.

Of cource if your site has outgoing links with illegal stuff, then ok you are in trouble. But if so, then your site is not correctly guarded anyway.

“SEO Experts are also a myth imho. Just a marketing thing. ”
-> I’m glad I get paid to improve my clients’ search engine rankings by doing nothing, looking at the tapistry all day long. ABrAcADaBrA !!! Ahahahah

More seriously, I wish people would stop installing tons of plugins when a simple line of code would do the same thing, with the benefit that it would improve page speed and last but not least would be much cleaner.

Hello,
Please use plugin mentioned by our contributor.
“I wish people would stop installing tons of plugins” I personally feel the same. You can have a look at above plugin source code and add content filter to your theme directly.

Yes @Rahul, that’s what I’m gonna do 😉 Yet I really feel that it would be an improvement to implement this into Anspress (If you are not convinced already and want more details / info about why, just feel free to ask)

No I cannot add this to core, cause search engine may ignore this link, and will not index it.

Yes, i know. But that is also a standard function in WordPress. Outgoing links in comments are normally rel=”nofollow”, because of link spammers would use these for link building. And when outgoing links are rel=”nofollow”, then they are not interested to spam you.

yes, it can be added for out going links. But I dont think we need to code this, as there are already many plugin for the purpose. Let me know.

This is a must for user generated content. Currently trying to get this for my own AnsPress.
It totally must be in a core. Maybe as a checkbox option.

Don’t want to use one of plugins, because it will nofollow my blog outlinks too. I want it only for AnsPress.
