Cover image size limitation?

I tried to upload a cover image to my profile, but it didn’t work. It was over 3,000px width, so perhaps your system rejected it, which is fine, but there was no error message with instructions of what size to upload.

I think may low-tech users will need a system like Facebook, which is very robust. No matter the size of the image uploaded, FB manages to deal with it somehow.
