How to override user-questions.php?

I have user-questions.php in anspress/user/ folder (it was already there when I downloaded AnswerBox theme). When I edit it nothing happens.

I think you are in wrong theme directory ? are you using child theme ? if yes then anspress folder must reside in child theme.

sorry not quite sure what you mean by that. I edited anspress-answerbox-880f356b4fe5\anspress\user\user-questions.php. Other some changes work, for example I added question.php in anspress folder and it overrides perfectly, but for some files it won’t work
