How get default theme
I would suggest you don’t do any changes to the default anspress.
If you could not understand the simple concept of child themes, if you couldn’t create /wp-content/themes/twentyfifteen/anspress/ and put all your anspress template files into it, this is just the beginning of all the hardships you are going to encounter:
- files from your theme folder will “magically” disappear after theme updates. Should have used child theme.
- I take it you are no programmer. Changing anspress templates requires basic programming skills, otherwise you will break things for sure.
Your original question reads “How can install AnsPress default theme?”
Maybe this all is misunderstanding and you don’t want to modify default theme? If it’s right, then you don’t have to do ANYTHING! AnsPress comes with good theme by default. Just install the plugin. No further actions required. It looks like this by default: http://dima.stefantsov.com/qa/
You only need some additional steps if you have bought a theme like AskBug for real money. Have you?
Hi arun.
Almost any theme works fine with AnsPress. My site theme is momentous-lite.
Buying AskBug should be perfect for you. Other themes need a bit of programming expertise to tweak things (for example, add notifications and login menu, make it look good). A theme designed specifically for AnsPress should already have everything required, highest quality.
You have just two options:
1. running AnsPress on just about any theme. It works ok usually.
2. buying one of two AnsPress themes, it just works.
I’m going with #1 myself, as you can see.
“can i install AnswerBox with WordPress instead of BuddyPress?”
You need to understand the difference between wordpress itself, themes, and plugins.
WordPress is the engine.
A theme is “how it will look”.
A plugin is “to tweak engine, make it do some other things”.
BuddyPress is a plugin. It have nothing to do with themes. You could install both BuddyPress and AnsPress plugins, and any theme you like, AnswerBox for example.
By the way, if you don’t know what BuddyPress does, you most probably don’t need it at all. I was mistaken like that at the beginning as well, I thought “to have a portal with accounts and profiles and stuff, I need BuddyPress”. Turns out, for Q&A I just need AnsPress. BuddyPress is actually making it more complicated, it was hard for me to understand the profiles system, which addon outputs what where.
Read docs carefully, you should copy anspress folder inside your active theme folder.
Hi Rahul,
This is too wage for me to understand. I’m new to WordPress, i could not understand what is child theme and Parent them. My active theme is Twenty Fifteen.
I have created a folder inside Twenty Fifteen and copied the file from plugin folders and it did not work….
Detailed steps would help me to get the default theme…
Hello Dima,
We are planning to take AskBug, before that we wanted to try the default theme. In the link you shared above, it seems like the WordPress you are using different. Is that right?
Could you please suggest some good themes compatible(good look and Sync) with AnsPress.
I have another question, that AnswerBox theme is more impressive than AskBug, can i install AnswerBox with WordPress instead of BuddyPress?
