Why arent questions showing up on main page?

Im using the anspress plugin only — for some reason i cant get the main page of my blog to be the questions list.  It only shows the “hello world” post thats been deleted..

for settings –> reading –> static page – do i select a page? (im using default anspress pages btw)
should the “home” page be “questions”?

I can provide any information and sorry in advance if this is not the right forum to post in!
