Hi Anspress Support,

I’ve recently installed Anspress in my website but for some reason, after updating the “Question page slug” to “q”, all of the individual question pages are returning 404 errors.

Any help would be really appreciated.

Thanks for a great plugin.

Please try with different slug, may be q is reserved slug in WP.

Hi Cagliostro,

I’ve removed it from the homepage and it’s now working again. Phew! Thanks for your help Cagliostro!

On a side note, I wonder if there’s a work around to this issue though. If the main Anspress page cannot be set as the homepage, it will be very hard for others to create a standalone Q&A website. It will always be only an auxiliary part of a main website.

Thanks again for your help.

Yep, because I’ve set anspress’ main page as the homepage of the site. The page that contains the shortcode “[anspress]” is currently set as the homepage.

Then that is your problem. I think you can’t set home page Anspress. Not sure if there is a workaround.

Hi Cagliostro,

Thank you for your comment.

I have already did that. My current permalink structure is http://domain.com/sample-post/. Still no luck.

These pages are returning 404 errors;

  1. http://domain.com/question/question-slug/
  2. http://domain.com/ask
  3. http://domain.com/user
  4. http://domain.com/user/username/
  5. http://domain.com/user/username/activity-feed/
  6. http://domain.com/user/username/notifications/
  7. http://domain.com/user/username/profile/
  8. http://domain.com/user/username/questions/
  9. http://domain.com/user/username/answers/

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks all.

I don’t think “http://domain.com/ask” for example can be that way. Are you posting correctly the url ? It should be “http://domain.com/somethinghere/ask”

Hi Rahul,

Thanks for your reply. I’ve immediately updated the “Question page slug” from “q” into “question” but still it’s showing 404 errors.

Same with /ask and all the URL’s for the profiles e.g., /user, /user/username

Try to go to Admin – Permalinks and RESAVE.

If it doesn’t work please post here the EXACT url those pages are pointing (remove your domain if you want).
