Changes to words in plugin
Sorry for the poor title of this question. I want to change some words that are in the plugin so they are more personal for my audience. Should (or is it possible) to create “child files” so I can change words that appear on screen and not lose the edits when I upgrade the plugin in the future?
For example, I need to be able to change text in buttons, etc. Instead of, “Ask a question” i want it to say, “Submit your idea”, etc.
If this is possible, can you tell me how to do it. Thanks.
Here, let me Google that for you ~ edit wordpress ,po .mo files
On the resulting page you will everything you need, including links to the best .po .mo editors.
No, I just gave you the incentive to expand your mind… 8^)
You can try editing the language files (.po .mo) Maybe it will works for you.
Save those two files on your computer, so if the plugin is updated, you only need to upload the language files to keep your translation.
Thanks for your help. So, there is no such thing as child plugins like you have for themes?
Also, where do I find those two files – .po and .mo? Are they the only two that need to be changed?
David.
Thanks Terence – you show me up for being bone lazy! I will take a look.
