I have 4.0.5 installed on a Divi theme and unable to edit the profile avatar.

I have written a blog post on our new form and validation class, have a look New form and validation classes introduced in AnsPress 4.1.0.

I think most of people are unaware about our upcoming version 4.1.0. We have been working on this for 3 months. We did not add new features, but instead we focused on improving our existing functionalities. Few major changes are:

  1. Improved form fields and validation. Added new fields type like upload, repeatable, group, editor, etc. Using this new form class, it will be lot more easier to add fields in question/answer form. Also adding new field types will be lot more easier then before.
  2. All pages of AnsPress is now following WordPress template hierarchy. Single question page behave like an actual single page. This change in AnsPress will make sure that 3rd party plugin and widgets will work as expected.

There are over 100+ changes made to this version but it will not require upgrade process like it was done while upgrading from 3.x to 4.x. No special steps requires while updating. A detailed changelog will be added in our blog section once we release a beta version.

We are not pushing our commits to master branch anymore as it breaks other dependent sites. You can find our development branch here: https://github.com/anspress/anspress/tree/4.1.0 or it can be updated following this steps How to update AnsPress from GitHub repository?.

We request the developers to test this new version. It will help us release new version as soon as possible.

Hello, i am very interested in buying your theme but i need some answers first.

Does the theme come with Private Messages between users?

Can you follow  users?

Can you follow questions?

Do you have hover-card on username hover?

Can you embed youtube in questions?

Can you add a poll?

Do you have user badges?

Can you show me a working real example of your theme on some site?

For older questions (activity before updating to 4.1 beta), even if there are comments, the modal window shows “No comments found”.

Other remarks:

  1. if closed once, the modal window can’t be opened again (if page is refreshed, modal window is opened right away) ;
  2. the AnsPress options to “Load comments” and “Numbers of comments to show” are not working anymore. Even though the modal window is really eye-candy and has a “wow-effect”, I think I prefer the 4.0 way with comments already opened under the question ;
  3. Modal window on mobile phone is out of viewport (gotta check if it’s theme related or not).

I just installed beta 1 on my development platform and looks like the update went smoothly (no error, my old settings are still there from what I checked,…). Nice job!

I do have some questions and remarks for the new pages system though.

Remarks

  • Even though I setup a page for all the components I use (base page + addons) I still get the error message (One or more AnsPress page(s) does not exists. Set automatically Or Set set by yourself). I would only show by default in Options the Archives Page and Ask Page. Other pages settings should be displayed only if admin has enabled the corresponding addons (you don’t need a User page if you don’t use AP User Profile, you don’t need the Categories or Tags Page if you don’t have those addons enabled).
  • In the above error message (One or more AnsPress page(s) does not exists. Set automatically Or Set set by yourself), the “Set automatically” link is always pointing to “create base page” even though Base Page has been chosen in options. I didn’t try clicking on it but users might click and get a new base page created which is quite confusing…

Questions

  • I don’t understand how the new page system works for Categories. I have to set a Categories Page (which has its own slug of course) but then, in the Category addon, I have to set a slug for the Categories Page (again?!) and Category single page. It doesn’t quite make sense and actually my categories pages are not working at all. ^^;
  • For the Ask page, I chose one but nothing is displayed there. Should I “manually” put my form there (widget? shortcode?)?

 

Ok, that’s it for now, let’s start with that. Really happy to see this new page system though, it should be much easier to customize layout and match it with the rest of the website.

Text box of Anspress plugin does not work. Does not appear text editor tools. See attatchment, please. 

I am using latest version of AnsPress for implementing a Q&A forum on my portal on WordPress 4.7.4. There’s an option in the settings section of AnsPress to limit ‘number of tags’ for questions asked on AnsPress.  But the same is not working for me. Could anyone please help me on this?

You can observe that even though the no of tags has been limited to ‘7’, user can still enter more than 7 tags.

When users are logged in with their mobile and click on answer. It doesn’t bring up the keypad. It just doesn’t respond. But it allows comments. How can I fix this so that they can answer with their mobile?
